As City Earth is pulling itself back together after being left behind by the family, Petal and Gerry continue to look for each other while Petal also looks for her beginning. What she finds is her history is tied in with the servers Old Grey and Omega. She also finds her real father, but he is not the loving father she would hope for as all he is interested in is power. And once again the citizens of City Earth find themselves under someones thumb and Petal and Gerry find they can't trust anyone. As the death toll climbs, everyone finds that sacrifice is necessary if they are going to stop the most dangerous threat they have ever run into.The story gets better with each book and I really enjoyed this one even with the loss of so many.

Was a little difficult to get through. Was hoping for more character involvement from one of the main characters but that never happened to my satisfaction.
It is original, exciting, end of the world sci-fi cyberpunk.
Imagine if Blade Runner met Sprawl trilogy and got mixed with modern technology and ideas that match today's state of (information) technology.... then drop it into an end-of-the-world setting.
I got Artificial Evil, then bought the whole trilogy .. then the prequel. I couldn't put it down.
Must find and read the last book now. I adore this series. Thank you for making the first one free so if find it but I'll never be the same person more I've met and feel in love with Petal. The characters in this series are fully written and nothing is left out. Love the genre. Colin F Barnes is a new fav author
This along with the others in this series have a very good story. The characters are well developed and the story moves at a very nice pace.
My only complaint is the editing. Far too many spelling and grammar errors for a story of this quality.
Hopefully Colin can find an editor that can match his ability to tell a story.
I truly enjoyed the 3 Codebreakers novels I've read. They are exciting and well-written. In the right hands, a great movie series.
I chose a 5 star to round out my ratings for the entire trilogy. Post apocalyptic scifi is probably my favorite genre, and while this series doesn't really break a ton of new ground, it doesn't feel like a retread of anything else out there either.
I kept waiting for certain cliche events to happen but this author avoided them, and he had the artistic integrity to stick with events in the series without reversing them as cheap plot twists. Great read all the way through.
This is the third book of the Codebreakers series I've read. Never have I read books with so many disasters one after another. The characters get out of one mess, you think things will go well, and wham, disaster comes again. This series keeps me up too late. I just need to keep reading to find out what happens next. I really love the books, but they aren't for the faint of heart. There is so much violence, death, and destruction. Regardless, I will eagerly start the next book in hopes that, somehow, there might be a happy ending for the characters in whom I have become so invested.
